Recommendations and feedback
Use trusted context and reviewed outcomes to improve decisions without promising a result.
Recommendations combine the best available Field Knowledge with the needs of a specific decision. They help a person plan a stronger Program, but they do not replace the judgment required in the field.
A recommendation is an input
A useful recommendation can draw on the Beat Passport, seasonal observations, pressure, license watchouts, and prior outcomes. It should be understandable: people need to see the context behind it and any gaps that make confidence limited.
It must not promise a catch, override a safety or operating rule, or silently replace the person accountable for the Program.
Current v0 recommendations are generated per guide, CIS, date, and lodge. Hard filters remove inactive or unavailable beats, capacity conflicts, lodge-scope mismatches, and guide double-booking before scoring. The scorer then uses the implemented signals available for that target, including curated beat prior, pressure/rest, guide recency, optional weather fit, and optional seasonal events.
Up to three ranked beats can be persisted. The rationale bullets are the source of truth for explanation; a confidence value or narrative cannot invent a beat, feature, or reason that is absent from that evidence.
The feedback loop
- Field Knowledge provides curated decision context.
- Fishing chooses and executes a Program using that context alongside today's real constraints.
- A Fishing Report records what happened.
- Field Knowledge reviews the resulting observations, photos, conditions, and outcomes before improving its curated material.
This loop makes recommendations better over time while preserving the difference between a field fact, a reviewed insight, and a future suggestion.
Guide Mobile exposes this loop through the Signals Brief and the beat choices in Program creation. Accepting a suggested beat or selecting another beat records the choice; the submitted Fishing Report later adds actual outcome facts.

Human judgment stays visible
An operator or guide can follow, adapt, or decline a recommendation when the real situation calls for it. Record the useful outcome in Fishing, then let Field Knowledge interpret the evidence through review. Access agreements and charges remain outside this loop unless the actual crossing requires a separate Accesses & Landowners follow-through.
