Assistant and settings

The Guide Assistant is available only when the profile has chat capability. In the current guide experience, open it from the Assistant actions in Signals Brief. Company users can also have a floating Assistant action, but that is not part of the guide workflow.

Ask a scoped Signals question

Signals Brief can prepare questions such as:

• Why this pick? — Explain the recommendation drivers.
• Compare picks — Compare the recommended beat with alternatives.
• What changed? — Explain changes in recent evidence.
• Explain watchouts — Expand access, conditions, confidence, or other blockers.

Selecting an action opens Chat with the prepared prompt. Continue the conversation when clarification is useful, but keep the question inside the guide's authorized lodge and field context.

Tool cards can summarize or link to records such as accesses and Programs. Open the underlying record before acting. Assistant output does not approve a Program, grant property access, submit a report, move inventory, record a payment, or correct the Guide account.

Change the app language

Open Profile, then Settings. Choose English, Spanish, or Portuguese in Language and confirm the displayed current language. The selection changes mobile interface copy; it does not translate user-entered notes, reports, or source records.

Configure GPS

The Location section appears only when the profile has gps.write capability.

1. Select Enable GPS.
2. Grant foreground location first.
3. Grant background location when the device supports it.
4. Read the resulting state: active, foreground only, inactive, denied, or background unavailable.
5. Use Open settings when the operating system will no longer show the permission prompt.

Foreground-only GPS can work while Trailhead stays open but may pause when the phone locks or the app moves to the background. Settings permission makes capture possible; the guide still starts and stops the GPS session from Program execution.

Configure notifications

The Notifications section appears only with push_tokens.write capability.

• Select Enable notifications to grant device permission and register the current device token.
• Wait for confirmation that notifications are active.
• Select Disable notifications to revoke the device registration when alerts should stop on that device.
• If enable or disable fails, confirm system permission and connectivity, then retry once.

Notification permission does not create an assignment or capability. Calendar remains the reliable place to find current work when a push alert is missed.

Change appearance

Open Profile, then Appearance to review the active visual palette. Choose an available style or return to the organization/default style. Appearance changes colors and presentation only; it does not change role, lodge, data, or workflow state.

Choose an authorized work view

Company access is authoritative for the default mobile view. A person with both Company and Guide backend access can open Settings and switch between those real work views. Switching view changes the authorized mobile surface; it does not combine permissions or data from both modes.

An authorized Executive, Trailhead Admin, or Head Guide with Company read may also see Client preview. Preview is clearly labelled and uses sample data. It never grants client API access, exposes a real client session, or invents a Company or Guide backend view the identity does not own. Return to a real view from Settings before relying on operational data. If a selector is absent, the signed-in identity owns only the current backend view.

Review field preferences

Settings shows the field-preferences area and provides a separate Gear preferences route where available. Preferences do not create a CIS gear request, report a Seasonal Kit replacement, or change inventory custody.

Sign out safely

Sign out from Profile, not by clearing application storage. Before signing out:

1. Submit or intentionally save the active form.
2. Confirm any expense, report, gear, or Program mutation in its source screen.
3. If a Program or Fishing Report timed out, keep the original action and let Trailhead reconcile or replay it; do not create a second copy to force completion.
4. Wait for pending mutation and offline GPS warnings to clear.
5. Confirm that no upload or voice-processing action remains active.
6. Then select Sign out.

If Settings does not show GPS or Notifications, the current profile lacks the corresponding capability. Ask Operations to review the role and field access rather than troubleshooting the device as if the action were hidden by error.
